Nebicip is part of a class of medications known as beta-blockers, which influence heart function and blood circulation through arteries and veins. It is prescribed for the management of hypertension (high blood pressure).
Use Nebicip strictly as your doctor has instructed. Do not alter your dose or duration of use outside of what has been recommended. Adhere closely to the instructions on your prescription label, and aim to take Nebicip at the same time daily. You can take the medication with or without food.
Avoid missing doses or discontinuing Nebicip without consulting your doctor first. An abrupt cessation might worsen your condition or lead to serious heart complications, including severe chest pain or a heart attack. You may need to gradually decrease your dosage before completely stopping the medication.
Your blood pressure will require regular monitoring. Make sure to visit your doctor consistently. If you are scheduled for surgery, inform the surgeon in advance that you are using Nebicip.
Nebicip is only one component of a comprehensive treatment plan that should also incorporate a healthy diet, physical activity, and weight management. It is essential to follow your dietary guidelines, medication schedule, and exercise program closely. Continue taking Nebicip as directed, even if you feel fine, as high blood pressure often doesn't present symptoms. You may need to remain on blood pressure medication for an extended period, potentially for life.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If the next dose is approaching, skip the missed one. Never take extra medication to compensate for a missed dose.
Seek emergency medical assistance if you exhibit any signs of an allergic reaction to Nebicip, including hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Contact your doctor immediately if you experience severe side effects such as shortness of breath, even with minimal exertion; swelling in the ankles or feet; irregular or slow heartbeats; or numbness or a cold sensation in your hands and feet.
Milder side effects of Nebicip may consist of headache, feelings of fatigue, nausea, stomach discomfort, diarrhea, or sleep disturbances (insomnia).
